Vettes at the Point!
Our cruise started south down Rte 20 to Orange than Rte 15 out to Gordonsville. From Gordonsville we picked up one of Dad's favorite drives Rte 231. Route 231 winds through Charlottesville's beautiful horse farm country. From Charlottesville we picked up 29 South to Smith Mountain Lake. As we traveled south the skies cleared into a beautiful early fall day. We first stopped by the Mariners Landing to find about eight Richmond Corvette Club members and caravanned with them over to the point. The Virginia Corvette Club have a beautiful location on Smith Mtn Lake for this event. Besides the strolling through beautiful display of corvettes there were other available activities. Dad and I went on a pontoon ride to check out the lake and get a different view of the corvettes.

With 140 corvettes in attendance there was some unique corvette examples. A wonderful preserved 54' Polo White, Baldwin Motion and a 2009 ZR1. The venue site provided a excellent background for some photographs. After spending the day enjoying the corvettes, we headed to our hotel room at Mariner Landing. The Mariner Landing is located on another beautiful cove of Smith Mtn. Lake. We had a wonderful dinner on the hotel's restaurant patio overlooking the lake.
